We’ve told you about some of these projects before, but in case you missed it here are some updates.
1). Big Lots new location is now open at the former Albertsons on the northeast corner of Madison and Evergreen Way. They soft-opened three days ago and plan a big formal Grand Opening at the end of the month.
2). Claire’s Place is now open off Berkshire east of Pecks and Evergreen Way. The “low barrier” housing project created a lot of controversy since it was first proposed in 2016. The official groundbreaking happened in January of 2018 and the facility recently began accepting residents. It is operated by Catholic Community Services. They are looking for volunteers to help at the facility. You can find more information about that effort here.
3). Everett Fire wants to replace its decades-old tall drill tower off Berkshire with a lower structure that can provide more training options. The new training structure would allow more realistic scenarios for firefighters. It would fit on the same footprint as the current tower but would only be three stories tall.
We’re hearing of some changes to the restaurant scene in south Everett. Construction is under way on the Burger King at the site of the old Village Inn while the former Denny’s is down and a Panda Express and mixed retail will fill that spot. Trying to confirm rumors of Everett’s first Mod Pizza coming soon as well as a south Everett location for another Dutch Brothers coffee stand. We’ll let you know when those two are firmed up.
