On Saturday we told you about a shooting that occurred on Glenwood Avenue. The Snohomish County Medical Examiner today issued the following statement.

The Snohomish County Medical Examiner has completed the exam of the 49-year-old male involved in an altercation in the 5200 block of Glenwood Ave in Everett, WA on July 06, 2019. The decedent is Steven A. Whitemarsh of Everett, WA. COD is gunshot wounds of the head. MOD is Homicide.

In court papers filed to support the arrest of a suspect Everett Police say it appears to be a case of road rage. A detective wrote that after reportedly slamming his brakes on and being rear-ended by an SUV, a 74-year old man got old of his car and walked back to the SUV and shot the driver two times in the head through the open driver’s side window. The man then reportedly stood by on the sidewalk. He was contacted by police after being pointed out by witnesses including one person who video taped the man talking about the shooting. Police recovered a gun whose ammo they said matched shell casings found at the shooting scene.

On Monday afternoon a district court judge found probable cause to hold the 74-year-old for investigation of second degree murder and set bail at $750,000.00. Several people have contacted MyEverettNews.com and said the man in custody has the same name as a man involved in a road rage shooting in California back in 1991 that left a man paralyzed. The man was acquitted of any criminal wrongdoing by a jury in that case. MyEverettNews.com is not naming the man as formal charges have not yet been filed.
