Nominations are now open for the 2019 Monte Cristo Awards. Each year, the Monte Cristo Awards recognize neighbors who make Everett special by taking pride in their property. Everett residents may nominate neighbors and businesses in four qualifying categories: Green Gardening, Neighborhood Friendly Business, Pride of the Neighborhood, and Rejuvenation & Transformation. Nominations are due before July 1, 2019 and may be made online.
“The Monte Cristo Awards are a celebration of the hard work and pride of ownership that Everett residents and businesses put into making their portion of this city beautiful,” said Jim Grieco, chair of the 2018 Monte Cristo Award ceremony. “These awards are a big part of what makes Everett such a welcoming and livable city, and I look forward to seeing all the nominees and winners this year.”
To submit a neighbor or business for nomination, visit everettwa.gov/MonteCristo. Residents may also contact their Neighborhood Association representative for a printed nomination form. Nominations must be received by midnight on June 30, 2019 to qualify.
Once nominations are received, committee members and community volunteers will vote on the winners. Winners will be announced at the 2019 Monte Cristo Awards Ceremony on October 10 at the historic Everett Theater downtown. This will be a free event open to the public.
Created in 1994 under the guidance of Marian Krell, former director of the Office of Neighborhoods, the Monte Cristo Awards recognize neighbors and businesses who help make Everett special by taking pride in their properties. The awards inspire residents and businesses alike to improve their homes, storefronts, and landscapes. Representatives from the Council of Neighborhoods and community volunteers choose award winners from properties that have been nominated by the community.
