Newest Members Of Everett Fire Department Introduced To City Council

Four Everett Fire Department recruits graduated from the Snohomish County Fire Training Academy, Recruit Class 2019-01, on May 31. Chief Dave DeMarco will introduce Everett Fire’s newest graduated recruits to the Everett City Council members at their weekly meeting on Tuesday, June 12 at 6 p.m.

These four recruits, among many others from neighboring jurisdictions, completed an intensive 14-week local joint training academy. The academy included rigorous physical training, classroom work, and practical application of new skills, knowledge and abilities.

Michael Erickson, originally from Snohomish and Island counties, started his career in the fire service in 2012 in Gold Bar before attending medic school at Central Washington University. He worked at Graham Fire and Rescue in Pierce County for the last three years prior to joining the Everett Fire Department.

Mark Kresser, originally from the Hawkeye State of Iowa, moved to Washington State ten years ago to serve at Joint Base Lewis-McChord. He served one deployment to Afghanistan as a combat engineer. After the military, Mark worked at Stevens Pass as a ski patroller and event coordinator.

Charles “Chaz” Langford is an Everett native who attended Western Washington University to earn his bachelor’s degree in business management. Shortly after graduating, he decided to follow in the footsteps of his father, Everett Fire Captain Rich Langford, and pursue a career in firefighting. He joined South Whatcom Fire authority as a part-time volunteer before volunteering for Anacortes Fire. Probationary Firefighter C. Langford states he is grateful to have the opportunity to serve the department and the City of Everett.

Adam Nichols, originally from Bellingham, is a graduate from Pacific Lutheran University where he earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s in education while playing college football and earning the honors of being a two-year team captain. After graduating, he taught social studies at Kent-Meridian High School for seven years before joining the Yakima Fire Department where he was a firefighter for just under five years. Nichols shared that he looks forward to meeting and serving the citizens of Everett.
