Officers recovered the baby from a Duplex at 66th and Fleming

We received calls regarding a police sniper with a rifle on the roof of the Popeye’s restaurant in Everett this morning. Here is a press release just out from Lynnwood Police Deputy Chief Jim Nelson regarding activity by their officers and Everett Police in the 6600 block of Fleming.

Today at approximately 4:00 AM a mid 20’s year old male armed with a firearm reportedly entered the apartment of his 20’s year old girlfriend and their approximately 6 week old baby. The apartment is located in the 20500 blk of 68th Ave W in Lynnwood . The suspect threatened to shoot his girlfriend and another occupant of the apartment and then he physically assaulted the female, took the couples 6 week old baby and left. The female suffered non-serious injuries.

Lynnwood Police were contacted at approximately 6:30am by the female victim. Police were advised that the delayed report was because of the victim’s fear of the suspect. Lynnwood Police, along with assistance from the Everett Police Department and the Snohomish County Sheriffs Office, went to the suspect’s residence in the 900 blk of 66th Pl SE in Everett and were able to contact him and take him into custody. The baby was recovered, taken to the hospital for evaluation, and will be reunited with his mother.

Lynnwood detectives are continuing the investigation. The suspect is currently in custody for Assault 1st Degree DV. Other charges involving him taking the baby are being investigated.
