This Everett Police SUV is wrapped in red crime scene tape with some visible damage on the rear quarter panel.

Six hours after the shots were fired SMART detectives were still on the scene.

SMART impounded two police vehicles that had been damaged along with the suspect’s Corvette for processing.

Update 6:30 PM: A woman is dead, her former husband has been arrested and several Everett Police Officers along with a Snohomish County Sheriff’s Sergeant are the focus of a use of force investigation while a multi-agency team investigates shots fired by multiple officers.

This morning shortly after 8 AM Snohomish 911 began receiving calls that a man had shot a woman and ran off at a manufacturing plant in the 1400 block of 80th street SW in south Everett. The man reportedly ran across the street from the plant and drove off in a red Corvette east on 80th street.

Arriving Everett Police officers located a woman who had been shot and attempted to save her but she was pronounced dead at the scene. After getting further information Everett Police put out this notice at 9:48 AM:

BOLO: Police are investigating a homicide in the 1400 blk of 80 St SW. Adult male suspect in his 60’s fled scene in a 2005 red Chevy Corvette plate # BJG9998. If vehicle is spotted, do not approach, call 911. Suspect was known to victim and considered armed and dangerous.

At about 10:20 AM an Everett Police Detective was on foot near Pacific and Broadway when he reported seeing the Corvette northbound on Broadway. A few minutes later an Everett Police Sergeant radioed that he had located the Corvette near 17th and Broadway.

The Corvette went east on 17th and south on McDougall. It slowed, then stopped on McDougall about mid block behind the Safeway. Additional Everett Police and Snohomish County Sheriff’s Deputies arrived and set up around the Corvette. Additional officers blocked off area streets to limit access as police on the scene tried to talk to the man in the Corvette.

At one point there was a report of shots fired. Shortly after that the man got out of his car, laid down in the street and was taken into custody. He was walked to a medic unit and transported to Providence Regional Medical Center to be examined.

Because multiple officers fired their weapons the Snohomish County Multi-Agency Response Team was called into handle that part of the case. Kristin Banfield, a spokesperson for the SMART Team says a handgun and magazine was found in the Corvette. Six Everett Police officers and one Snohomish County Sheriff’s Sergeant were believed to be involved in the incident. No officers were injured during the arrest. When the SMART investigation is complete, results will be forwarded to the Snohomish County Prosecutor’s Office for review.

Everett Police Major Crimes Detectives are handling the murder case as a separate investigation. The Snohomish County Medical Examiner put out the following statement this afternoon:

The ID & COD/MOD of the adult female who was a victim in a shooting near the 1400 block of 80th St SW in Everett, WA around 8:00 A.M. on May 24, 2019 will be released following positive identification, next-of-kin notification, & post-mortem exam.

Update 10:41AM The suspect has been located by Everett PD.
