A cool program that allows Everett residents to experience virtual reality is being offered by the Everett Public Library over the next three months. Here’s the scoop:

Visit the library and go anywhere! Interactive virtual reality demonstrations will be held at the Everett Public Library, at 2702 Hoyt Avenue, three days a week in April, May, and June. Journey through the blood stream, tour the White House, visit the International Space Station, or experience another environment of your choice through the power of virtual reality.

Each participant will have the chance to try out a 15-minute session on either an Oculus Rift or Oculus Go headset. Everett Public Library’s virtual reality headsets are on temporary loan from the Washington State Library.

The virtual reality sessions are free and open to the public, on a first-come, first-served basis. Sessions will take place on the following days and times in April, May, and June:

Wednesdays, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Thursdays, 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Participants in Everett Public Library’s virtual reality sessions must be at least 13 years of age. Participants under the age of 18 must have a signed parental consent form. Participants will be asked to complete a brief, anonymous survey about the experience for the Washington State Library’s research on the value of virtual reality as a multi-sensory educational tool.

For more information about the virtual reality sessions at Everett Public Library, please call 425-257-8000 or visit www.epls.org/VR.
