Some activity is in the early planning stages, while other businesses are about ready to open. Here’s what we found from a weekend wander through the City of Everett’s online permitting portal: (click on photos to enlarge)

We were the first to show you the new sign for Judd and Black at the former location of Circuit City at 510 SW Everett Mall Way. According to their Facebook page the Grand Opening is set for this Friday the 22nd at 11 AM.

Things are in the pre-planning stage and very much subject to change but a Bellevue Developer is proposing to tear down the K-Mart at 8102 Evergreen Way and put up 359 apartment units spread over five buildings. McDonald’s and the DaVita Kidney Center would not be affected.

This is the proposed layout for the apartments being considered at the old KMart site.

The store has been empty since the fall of 2014

The former Albertson’s Grocery at 6727 Evergreen Way may soon become a Big Lots location. Over the past several weeks crews have been removing all of the interior fixtures and there are permit applications for a remodel of the building into a Big Lots currently under review with the City.

This would be a larger space for Big Lots which currently has an Everett store at 7725 Evergreen Way

We told you about this one a while back but it looks like things are moving forward to take the former Denny’s Restaurant at 8417 Evergreen Way and convert the space into mixed use with retail units and a Panda Express Restaurant and Drive thru.

The building sits in front of the Sunrise Inn.

One project that appeared to be stalled is the development of the old Village Restaurant at 8525 Evergreen Way. The building closed after a fire in 2011 and has been something of an eyesore and problem property for the City over the last few years. At one point the City considered it as a location for low barrier housing but that idea was dropped. Plans have been underway since 2017 to tear down the existing building and put in a Burger King Restaurant. Utility permits have recently been approved so that project may soon be moving forward.

This building has been empty for the last 7 years.
