This is the first time for a major event in the Puget Sound region.

Players from as far away as North Carolina are expected.

Yes, you read that right, the American Cornhole Association is hosting one of their major tournaments in Everett this Friday and Saturday. They explain the game as follows:

Cornhole or Corn Toss is similar to horseshoes except you use wooden boxes called cornhole platforms and corn bags instead of horseshoes and metal stakes. Contestants take turns pitching their corn bags at the cornhole platform until a contestant reaches the score of 21 points. A corn bag in the hole scores 3 points, while one on the platform scores 1 point.

Scoring can be swift and the lead may change hands several times in a match before the winner is decided.

The game is generally played tournament style with an individual or team being named the champion at the end of the tournament.

This is the first time the American Cornhole Organization has held a competition in the Puget Sound. Players are expected locally from Lake Stevens and Mill Creek but also from as far away as North Carolina, Nevada, Southern California and Idaho.

The competition is free to watch and starts Friday at 2 PM and again Saturday at 10 AM. It is being held at the Everett Soccer Arena at 2201 California Street (just west of Broadway)

If you’d like to compete they are accepting walk-up entries. You can find out more from the Tournament Facebook Page.
