Everett

Passing along this reminder from the folks at Naval Station Everett.

Navy

It may get extra loud around the base over the next 10 days.

Starting tomorrow, United States Navy installations in the Pacific Northwest will conduct an anti-terrorism force protection exercise Feb. 4-15 called Citadel Shield-Solid Curtain 2019. Participating installations include Naval Station Everett, NAS Whidbey Island, Naval Base Kitsap, Naval Magazine Indian Island.

Measures have been taken to minimize disruptions within local communities and to normal base operations, but there may be increased traffic around bases or delays in base access due to temporary gate closures or other security activities.

Area residents may also see or hear activities associated with the exercise that pose no safety risk, including seeing increased vehicles near the base, increased vessel activity on the water or hearing small explosive sounds.

This regularly scheduled security exercise is not in response to any specific threat.
