Again this year Everett Firefighters will be participating in the annual Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) Firefighter Stairclimb. The event is on March 10th and the goal of Everett Firefighters Local 46 is to raise $100,000.00 by that date.

Fundraising has begun with firefighters taking pledges. Tomorrow (Sat. Feb. 2nd) Everett Firefighters and their families will be out in front of the Costco at 102nd and 19th SE from 10 AM ’til 2 PM raising money and awareness in a donation drive.

Stop and put a few bucks into the boot to help toward their goal. Over the next few weeks MyEverettNews.com will be featuring some of the stories of Everett Firefighters participating in the climb.

For now, here’s more about this year’s effort from the members of Everett Professional Firefighters Local 46.

Last year the Everett Firefighter Stairclimb Team dedicated our fundraising efforts to Emma Lande – the 17 year old daughter of an Everett Firefighter.  After grueling months of chemotherapy and multiple emergency trips to the hospital, Emma is now in remission.  She is a freshman at Washington State and is thriving there!

We continue to dedicate our efforts to finding cures and therapies to help all LLS patients.

67 Everett Firefighters (the largest contingent we’ve ever had) will be climbing in full fire and breathing gear in a physically challenging competition that represents the struggle that blood cancer patients endure. Every step to the top serves as a reminder that there’s still work to be done in funding and finding cures.

Last year, the Everett Fire Department Stairclimb Team raised $126K — setting a new record for the most money in the nation (of 337 departments and 2000 firefighters participating)!!

Please help us and LLS by clicking here and going onto our donation page. Then click on the red “Donate Now” button to donate to the team, or click on a name below the “Donate Now” button to donate to a specific firefighter.

Thanks for your support!!!
