The suspect was put on a stretcher and taken by ambulance to be checked at an Everett Hospital before being booked into jail.

Detectives with the Major Crimes Unit are investigating an incident where a man rammed a fully-marked patrol vehicle in a police precinct parking lot.

At about 7:15 a.m. this morning, a vehicle entered the parking lot of the Everett Police South Precinct (1121 SE Everett Mall Way) and rapidly accelerated towards an occupied patrol SUV in the public portion of the lot. The officer saw the vehicle approach and backed up in an attempt to avoid getting hit. Despite the effort, the patrol SUV was struck.

After the collision, the driver got out and screamed that he was going to kill the officer. Another officer approached the man and was physically attacked. The two officers attempted to take the man into custody, but the struggle lasted several minutes. A Taser was used during the arrest. His motivation for the attack is still under investigation.

Both officers and the man sustained minor injuries. All were taken to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett for treatment and are expected to be released after receiving medical care.

“As a department, we are very disturbed by what happened this morning,” said Chief Dan Templeman. “This could have ended tragically, but I’m proud our officers showed restraint and professionalism during the incident.”

The driver, a 24 year-old Everett man, will be booked for assault one (RCW 9A.36.011), two counts of assault three (RCW 9A.26.031), malicious mischief (RCW 9A.48.070), and two counts of harassment (9A.46.020).

As part of the investigation, the suspect’s vehicle was impounded pending further investigation.
