6 New Recruits Join Everett Fire Department

Six new probationary Everett firefighters are ready to be assigned to stations after graduating from the local fire academy this week. Here’s more from Everett Fire in a press release received last night.

Six Everett Fire Department recruits graduated on Dec. 21, 2018 from the Snohomish County Fire Training Academy, Recruit Class 2018-02. These six recruits are among 23 new recruits who have completed an intensive 14-week local joint training academy, which included rigorous physical training, classroom work, and practical application of new skills, knowledge and abilities.

Four of the six Everett Fire Department recruits are laterals hires from other agencies to include Ryan Fromm, Victor Nelson, Galen Wallace, and Patrick Williams. The other two recruits, Connor Liias and Bruce Martin, are new to the fire service.

Ryan Fromm comes to us from the Redmond Fire Department. Ryan was born and raised in Snohomish and started his fire career straight out of high school working for Snohomish County Fire District 22 – Getchell Fire and, at the time, Monroe Fire Department, which is now part of Snohomish County Fire District 7.

Victor Nelson is a Lake Stevens native who also started his fire career right out of high school with Snohomish County Fire District 22 – Getchell Fire and Marysville Fire. Victor lateraled to the Everett Fire Department from Yakima County Fire District #4 where he worked as a firefighter since 2014.

Galen Wallace joins our department from the Anacortes Fire Department. Galen is excited to return to Everett as a firefighter and serve in the community where he grew up. He is humbled to have his dream job as a firefighter and looks forward to the next chapter.

Patrick Williams is a lateral firefighter from the Lynden Fire Department. Patrick has a background in construction and working on a dairy farm. Ever since watching the movie “Backdraft” with his father, Patrick has always wanted to be a firefighter.

Connor Liias is a native of Kirkland. Connor has a background in construction and as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). After graduating from Everett Community College’s Fire Academy, he began part-time at Snohomish County Fire District #17.

Bruce Martin, from Superior, Wisconsin, always wanted to work in public safety and saw the military as a good stepping-stone to get there. Bruce served in the 1st Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment as a member of the rifle company, and was stationed in Hawaii. After his military service, he attended Everett Community College and set his sights on becoming a firefighter with the Everett Fire Department.
