A new Engine was rolled into Station 1 back on Sept. 17th.

Back on September 17th we showed you the “Rolling In” Ceremony of the new Engine 1.

This afternoon (Nov 5) you are invited to help the Everett Fire Department in a similar ceremony at Fire Station 6. Here are the details.

The Everett Fire Department invites the public to join fire personnel at the rolling-in ceremony for its new fire engine on Monday, Nov. 5 at 5:30 p.m. at Fire Station 6, located at 9520 Evergreen Way.

The event at Fire Station 6 will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 5 with an opportunity for community members to explore the new engine and enjoy celebratory cake and light refreshments.

There will be a ceremonial champagne christening to invite good luck before the roll-in. Parking is available at the neighboring Everett Public Library Evergreen Branch, located at 9512 Evergreen Way.

The rolling-in ceremony is an old tradition dating back to the 1830’s during the days when horse-drawn fire equipment was used and could not be easily backed into the station. The horse teams were disconnected from the equipment and the firefighters would push the equipment back into the station.
