Kids from all across the State are participating today.
As one band marches out, another is marching in.
The Sousaphone is possibly the hardest instrument to master while marching.
The preliminary competition goes until about 3:30 PM with 16 different bands and color guards participating.
There’s a break for judging and the finals competition starts around 5:00 PM.
Drivers need to watch out for bands crossing Broadway at 39th street.
There are police directing traffic but drivers coming in off northbound I-5 should slow a bit earlier coming onto Broadway.
This is the 31st year for the festival which is being coordinated by the Cascade Band Boosters.
