Duck hunters are out and about east of Everett.

If you suddenly started hearing gunshots this morning here’s a likely cause. Duck hunting season opened today.

Everett Police have already had a handful of calls from the eastern edges of the city. The general season runs from now until the end of January.

Expect lots of activity around the Snohomish River and the sloughs and estuary between Everett and Marysville.

While east of Everett, the sound of hunters firing their weapons can carry across the city.

Everett Police Spokesman Aaron Snell tells MyEverettNews.com that if you hear gunfire and aren’t sure about it to go ahead and call 911.

Everett Police will check out any reports received.
