Fatal Hit And Run Victim From Saturday Night Identified

Police in Everett, Washington are still looking for information on a fatal hit and run Saturday night on 19th Avenue SE in the Eastmont neighborhood. Today the Snohomish County Medical Examiner released the identity of the victim and cause and manner of death.

The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office has completed the examination and confirmed the identification of the 59-year old female who was involved in a vehicle versus pedestrian collision in the 9700 block of 19th Avenue SE in Everett, WA on September 8, 2018. The decedent is Tracy A. Gjernes of Everett, WA. The cause of death is blunt trauma. The manner of death is classified as Homicide.

Everett Police say they have very little to go on and are still asking for the public’s help. The crash happened about 8 o’clock on Saturday night near the Winco grocery store and the Skate Deck. Detectives with the Traffic Safety Unit believe the victim was crossing 19th Ave SE in an eastbound direction when a northbound vehicle struck her. At this time, detectives believe the suspect vehicle is a red SUV likely to have damage to the front.
