Everett Police officers tried to contact the people inside the home via phone and over a loudspeaker from behind a patrol SUV parked in front of the house. After trying for several minutes police formed up and broke open the front window of the house to see inside. A team entered the home and found a male who had been shot. Officers and medics tried but efforts to save him were unsuccessful.
An elderly man was detained and a gun recovered at the scene. Everett Police spokesman Aaron Snell tells MyEverettNews.com the elderly man was believed to be in his 90s and suffering from medical issues. He was transported by ambulance to Providence Regional Medical Center.
The home has been secured and detectives will continue the investigation. Snell says he believes the relationship between the two men was grandfather in his 90s and grandson in his 40s but they are working to confirm. Madison was reopened after about an hour and a half.
Here are some MyEverettNews.com photos from the scene. We will update the story as information becomes available.
