Everett Fire crews responded after smoke was reported coming from one of the boathouses around 5:15 PM.
The first arriving Engine advised of black smoke coming from about the fifth boathouse from the shore.
After gaining access, firefighters found the boat inside was on fire.
That Engine crew was able to make a fast attack while additional arriving units were able to keep the fire from spreading to the boathouses on either side of the fire unit.
Police and a firefighter aboard Marine 1 were able to help provide ventilation on the fire unit while Marine 2 stood by to assist in case other boathouses needed to be evacuated.
Additional crews from Marysville fire and Naval Station Everett Fire Department also responded to the first alarm.
A second alarm was called but the initial crews were able to bring things under control.
An Everett fire investigator was called to the scene. No word at this time on the cause or a damage estimate.
Port of Everett acting CEO Lisa Lefeber had praise for the arriving fire crews.
“Their fast work in getting the fire under control and keeping it contained was fantastic, Lefeber said. “I am also incredibly proud of the fast response and work of our Port of Everett staff.”
