Initial returns are in.

It looks from early returns that two political newcomers in Everett will face off for the city council position currently held by Ethel McNeal via appointment earlier this year. Here is the first ballot return:

Tyler Rourke – 4235 votes – (42.43%)
Liz Vogeli – 3276 votes – (32.83%)
Ethel McNeal – 2352 votes – (23.56%)

In other races where Everett voters cast ballots:

Mary Rollins will go against Sid Logan for PUD Commissioner in district 1.

John McCoy will have to wait to find out his opponent in the 38th District Senate as it is too close to call between Bruce Overstreet and Savio Pham.

June Robinson got twice the votes over her opponent Bert Johnson in the 38th House position.

Mike Sells is unopposed in his race in the 38th House.

Congressman Rick Larsen in the second congressional district got seven times the number of votes of his nearest challenger who is still not determined.

It appears Susan Hutchinson will be challenging incumbent Maria Cantwell in the U.S. Senate race.

For the general election in November voters in Everett will have a couple of other specific issues on the ballot including the question of whether to have city council districts and how many of them as well as a levy lid lift to cover Emergency Medical Services within the Everett City limits.
