Everett Mayor Asking Businesses To Give Discounts To Boeing Workers

Received a press release here today (on the second to last day of July) from Everett Mayor Cassie Franklin proclaiming July as Aerospace Appreciation Month. In the release the Mayor highlights the Boeing Company and encourages businesses to show their appreciation through the “We Love Boeing” campaign. Everett businesses, restaurants and pubs are encouraged to participate by offering discounts and other perks to Boeing employees or by simply saying thank you.

For more than 50 years, the Boeing Company has been an integral part of Everett’s identity and a vital economic driver in the region. Boeing employees and their families also provide significant support to area organizations through volunteer work and charitable donations.

In honor of Boeing’s contributions to Everett, Mayor Cassie Franklin proclaimed July as Aerospace Appreciation Month and is inviting local businesses to show their appreciation through the “We Love Boeing” campaign. Everett businesses, restaurants and pubs are encouraged to participate by offering discounts and other perks to Boeing employees or by simply saying thank you.

“The Boeing Company and its partners in the aerospace and advanced manufacturing industries are hugely important to Everett – and the entire state,” said Franklin. “Boeing is our top employer and offers exciting career paths for our students. I am proud to proclaim July as Aerospace Appreciation Month and thank Boeing employees for all the ways they contribute to our community.”

Nearly half of all aerospace workers in Washington state work in Everett and Snohomish County, and the industry provides nearly $4 billion a year in wages in Snohomish County. Boeing employees have contributed thousands of volunteer hours and funds to local and regional nonprofits and community projects.

Some local businesses already participating in the “We Love Boeing” campaign are offering specialized perks to thank Boeing employees for their support of the Everett community. The Port of Everett, for instance, is offering the second night free for guest moorage, while Bayside Bikes plans to discount all service, parts and accessories by 15 percent. Scuttlebutt Brewing will provide Boeing employees with a 10 percent discount on food and beverage purchases, and the Everett Music Initiative will offer Boeing employees free admission to all their shows.

“Scuttlebutt Brewing is happy to support these efforts to show Boeing that we not only appreciate the company’s contributions to our region, but also the thousands of employees who call our community home and support businesses like Scuttlebutt,” said Phil Bannan Jr., owner of Scuttlebutt Brewing.
