Metro Everett

“Metro Everett” is over one square mile, and includes the downtown business district, Everett station area, portions of the Broadway corridor and surrounding commercial and residential areas.

At their daytime meeting on Wednesday the Everett City Council will get their first reading of eight actions that together will form what is known as the Metro Everett plan.

When adopted the plan will dramatically alter how future development is managed not only in the downtown Everett core but throughout the city.

Here’s more from the City of Everett on the schedule that council members will follow over the next several weeks along with dates of public hearings and ways for you to give feedback.

The Everett City Council is set to receive the city planning commission’s recommendations regarding the Metro Everett Plan and city-wide off-street parking changes.

The City Council has established a public hearing process that allows council members to focus on issues that gained the most attention and concern at the planning commission meetings. The public hearings and topics will be as follows:

  • August 1st (6:30 p.m.) Historic overlays and Metro Everett
  • August 8th (6:30 p.m.) Clinics and social services in Metro Everett
  • August 15th (6:30 p.m.) Off-street parking, zoning along Cedar and California, other topics
  • August 29th (6:30 p.m.) 3rd and final reading, final public hearing scheduled

The City Council received an introductory briefing on the planning commission’s recommendations on July 18th, with introduction of the ordinances set for the July 25th council meeting.

The public is encouraged to provide testimony at one of the scheduled public hearing dates, or by sending comments in to the Metro Everett email (metro@everettwa.gov).

After 24 meetings, the planning commission wrapped up their recommendations to city council on June 19th. Those recommendations were nearly unanimous, and followed extensive outreach to stakeholders and interested citizens over the past 2 ½ years.

The planning commission’s recommendations can be found at www.everettwa.gov/metro. The ordinance’s presented to city council will also be found on the Metro Everett page, as well as on the city council agenda page. As the process continues, the city will continue to issue updates on our website and through this News Flash. Please contact us at 425-257-8731 if you have any questions.
