Children falling out of a window protected only by a screen is one of those things that can happen in the blink of an eye. Sadly that appears to be the case as Everett medics rushed a toddler to Providence Regional Medical Center after the child fell out of a third floor window of an apartment in north Everett. It happened about 4:30 Wednesday afternoon.

The window was open with a screen over it which was pushed out when the child fell.

The child landed on the grass below the apartment. The child was taken to Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett and then transferred to Harborview Hospital according to Everett Police.

No word at this time on the condition of the child.

Everett Police Lt. Ryan Dalberg told MyEverettNews.com it appeared to be a tragic accident. The child was reportedly playing with siblings when they went out of the room for a moment. When they came back into the room they noticed the screen open and the child in the grass below the window.

Children falling through open windows with screens is a common issue every summer as the weather gets hotter.

Here are some window safety tips from Safe Kids Snohomish County.
