For those who were wondering about all of the police activity in the area of Lower Ridge Road and Madison Street Sunday afternoon here’s what we know so far. Around 3:30 PM an Everett Police Sergeant spotted a silver truck driving erratically near Evergreen Way and Pecks Drive. The Sergeant lost sight of the truck.

About 15 minutes later the Sergeant saw the truck again near Dogwood Drive and Mukilteo Boulevard. The Sergeant tried to stop the truck and it took off from him at a high rate of speed south on Dogwood. The Sergeant pulled over and did not chase the truck as is Everett Police policy.

About two minutes later an officer reported being flagged down by a person at 74th and Beverly Lane who reported a truck had crashed and the driver ran off behind some houses. Police checked the VIN number on the truck and it came back stolen.

A K9 unit from Marysville was called to try and track the driver. About the time the K9 arrived 911 began getting calls from people in the area of 69th Place, Lower Ridge Road and Madison reporting a man running through back yards and hopping over fences. Officers flooded the area and a man was caught in the woods east of 69th Place and south of Madison. The Sergeant positively identified him as the person he saw driving the truck.

The man is expected to be booked into the Snohomish County Jail on suspicion of possession of stolen property and eluding a police officer. He will make an initial court appearance Monday afternoon.
