The Tips had a strong start to the first as they were battling hard against the Broncos. The Tips got a power play early on as Glenn Gawdin was called for a trip at 4:49. Hometown Silvertip Wyatte Wylie got the first goal of the game as he snuck down from the point after Connor Dewar and Riley Sutter won a puck battle behind the Broncos’ net to make it 1-0 Tips at 6:19.

After the Tips successfully killed their first penalty of the game, they responded in a huge way—Matt Fonteyne snuck behind the defense against Stuart Skinner and deposited his ninth goal of the playoffs through Skinner’s five hole to make it 2-0 Tips at 16:07. Patrick Bajkov and Martin Fasko-Rudas did some nice work behind the play to get the puck up ice to Fonteyne for the goal.

At 17:15, Connor Dewar was caught for a high stick, putting the Tips on the disadvantage for the second time this period; Swift Current was able to respond quickly as Gawdin cut the lead in half to make it 2-1 at 17:50.

The second period saw Gawdin get his second goal of the night at 6:37 to tie the game. The Tips did not let up at all throughout the second as they threw 16 shots on Skinner. Carter Hart faced 7 shots in the second period.

The third period was without a doubt one of the best period the Tips have had in this series. After escaping a hit post by Giorgio Estephan, Sean Richards took the puck all the way from the defensive zone and unleashed a wrister past Skinner from the left circle to make it 3-2 Tips at 4:48.

The Tips were buzzing and feeling unstoppable at that point; Riley Sutter just 1:21 took a feed in the slot and rifled a snap shot past Skinner to put the Tips up 4-2 and the building was electrified. The game got interesting again at 12:51 as Noah King gave the Broncos their third of the evening to make the score 4-3.

The Tips did not seem rattled by the goal at all as they kept buzzing and working hard each shift. With 2 minutes left, Swift Current pulled Skinner for the 6th attacker. Just twenty seconds later, the second line did excellent work to get the puck out of the defensive zone and Connor Dewar buried an empty net goal to make it 5-3 Tips. He wasn’t done there; Skinner left the net again and Dewar buried another puck with 29 seconds to go to make the final score 6-3.

Skinner took the loss on 34 saves.
