Farmers Market

Sunday this space at Boxcar Park at the Port of Everett will be filled with vendors.

After two and a half decades it just keeps getting better. On Sunday (Mother’s Day May 13th) the Everett Farmers Market will begin their 25th year. At 11 AM the bell will ring and the market will open at Boxcar Park on the Everett Waterfront. Today crews were busy marking out additional parking spots (they are up to 400 now) and checking out the paving project that will make it easier for those with mobility issues to get around to see all of the vendors. This year the market will run every Sunday from Mother’s Day through October 14th between 11 AM and 4 PM. (A second location will operate Wednesdays from 4 PM to 8 PM on 32nd street across from the main entrance at the Everett Station Transit Center from May 23rd through September 26th. More on that location soon)

Gary Purves (l) and Karen Erickson (r) speak to the Engage Everett gathering Wednesday afternoon.

Since January 2012 Gary Purves and Karen Erickson have been the Market Masters. In addition to making arrangements for this year’s Everett Farmers Market the two have been visiting community groups and gatherings to promote the market and have been asking people to pick up posters and spread the word. MyEverettNews.com caught up with the two Wednesday afternoon at the Engage Everett networking event at the Scuttlebutt tap room on Cedar street. Some of the highlights of their presentation included word that Everett Transit will be operating Weekend Wheels to the Waterfront on Saturdays and Sundays so folks who don’t want to deal with finding a parking spot at the waterfront or who don’t have a car can take a bus to Everett Station and catch a direct route to the Everett waterfront and Sunday Everett Farmers Market.

Other things to know about the Sunday Everett Farmers Market:

  • Sheri Roberts Greimes performs live from 1 – 3 PM on opening day.
  • 115 vendors are expected. Click here to see the list for this Sunday.
  • A limited number of collectible posters and tote bags will be available Sunday,
  • EBT Cards accepted + you can double your dollars with the Fresh Bucks Program.
  • WIC and Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program checks are accepted.
  • Nothing sold is from outside Washington State. All as fresh and as local as possible.
  • WSU extension will be doing cooking demos with products direct from market vendors.
  • For more information on the Everett Farmers Market visit their website here or their Facebook page here.

By the way the weather forecast for opening day is patchy fog in the morning and then sunny with a high of 76!
