Around 12:30 PM Everett Police received reports of an assault near the corner of California and Broadway near Martin Lumber. Two men were reported fighting. One man ended up on the ground convulsing while the other who witnesses said was the aggressor ran toward the railroad tracks that run from Everett Station under the city.

Aid was called to transport the victim to Providence Regional Medical Center while officers on scene called for assistance from a K-9 unit to track the suspect. A K-9 unit from the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office responded and was able to track the suspect into the train tunnel running west toward the Everett waterfront.

An Everett patrol officer spotted a man matching the suspect’s description at the railroad tracks by the Anchor Tavern at the foot of Hewitt just west of the train tunnel. That officer and others detained the man and the K-9 tracked through the train tunnel to where the officer had him detained.

Witnesses to the assault also confirmed to Everett Police the that the man matched the description of the suspect who had run off. The suspect was arrested and booked into the Snohomish County Jail on suspicion of 2nd degree felony assault. He is expected to make a first court appearance Monday afternoon.
