The K-9 searched the area north of where the car was found.

Traffic was slowed on Evergreen Way Friday afternoon after a store worker reportedly fired a gun at a car containing a suspected thief.

It happened around 4:30 PM when a man walked into the Odyssey Coin and Collectible Shop in the 5800 block of Evergreen Way and scooped up multiple items and ran out the door.

Aaron Snell with Everett Police told MyEverettNews.com an employee followed the suspect out of the store and fired at least one shot at the car the suspect got into. No word if the car was hit but the incident caused quite a commotion on Evergreen Way.

Patrol officers found the car a few minutes later abandoned in the 4800 block of College Avenue.

An Everett Patrol officer on containment in the area spotted the suspect heading toward Forest Park and took him into custody.

A K-9 from Edmonds PD was brought in to try and locate the driver of the get-away car but that track was unsuccessful.

The car involved was impounded and is being held for a search warrant.

Snell says officers continue to investigate the theft and the circumstances surrounding the firing of the weapon.

The suspect detained near Forest Park was booked into the Snohomish County Jail on suspicion of 1st degree theft, making false statements and a parole violation.
