Everett Police look under the front of the bus for evidence Friday night.

Here’s the update from Everett Police regarding a man run over by an Everett Transit bus Friday night on south Broadway.

An adult male died last Friday night after being stuck by an Everett Transit bus in the 8100 block of Broadway Ave at about 10:00 p.m. Arriving units performed CPR, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The roadway was closed for about two hours while detectives with the Traffic Safety Unit investigated. Initial video surveillance indicates the man exited a black 4-door sedan that had stopped alongside the road. As he attempted to re-enter the vehicle, it drove off and knocked him into the roadway and path of the bus. The sedan continued southbound on Broadway Ave and left the area.

Detectives located the sedan in Mukilteo where they interviewed the female driver and are working to clarify why the sedan stopped alongside the road then drove off and left the scene.

Identification of the man, as well as cause and manner of death, will be determined by the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office.
