Arrest Made In Deadly Fire On Colby
Editor’s Update 2:45 PM: An Everett District Court Judge found probable cause to hold the man on $500,000.00 bail. Prosecutor said in court that the Medical Examiner had not determined the medical reason for the woman’s death but suggested multiple accounts for assault were warranted due to the number of people who were trapped on the second floor and had to jump to safety. Editor’s Update 8:45 AM: According to probable cause paperwork filed by Everett Police the suspect in the fire is a 40-year-old man who is a drifter and suffers from mental health issues. He allegedly admitted to detectives he set the fire. His initial probable cause court hearing is set for 1 PM.

MyEverettNewsw.com has learned that last night detectives with Everett Police arrested a person of interest in the
December 21st two-alarm fire at the Colby Square apartments north of downtown Everett. A 76-year-old woman hospitalized as a result of the fire passed away from her injuries about a week after the fire. Everett Fire Investigators, agents with ATF and Everett Police Detectives had all been working on the case. Yesterday detectives traveled to Bellingham and made an arrest. The suspect was booked on suspicion of 1st degree arson and 1st degree assault. He is expected to make a first court appearance in Everett this afternoon. More details as they become available.
