Santa hats instead of helmets for the Region 1 SWAT team Friday

Received notice this evening of a neat event happening tomorrow afternoon (Fri Dec 22nd) at 3:00 PM at the Boys and Girls Club on Casino Road. (525 West Casino Road Everett 98203) Members of Region 1 SWAT will be at the Boys & Girls Club on Casino Rd tomorrow to hand out Christmas gifts to local children.

Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Mike Martin says, “The Team pitched in to purchase Christmas gifts and thought the most creative way to break down barriers with local children would be to go to a community center dressed in full gear with Santa hats, pass out gifts from our armored truck known as the “Bearcat”, and have a great time!”

SWAT members collected money to purchase gifts for area children in an effort to give back to the public and break down barriers with local residents. Participants will receive a gift bag and can take photos with team members.

“As the Team only deploys in worst-case scenarios, we want to let the community know we are here to protect them. This is a chance to interact with local families, introduce them to our officers and hopefully spread some holiday cheer” said Everett Police Department Lt. Bruce Bosman. “The event will be fun, not something you see every day…”

All community members (especially children) are invited.
