Everett Government

Last week MyEverettNews.com told you about the Mayor’s decision to stop running Engine 3 if putting it into service would cause an overtime expense. Today the Everett Firefighters Union Posted the following video on Facebook to make their case to keep Engine 3 staffed.

2017 has been a year of turnover at the top of the Everett Fire Department with three different Fire Chiefs. Eric Hicks was named Fire Chief after the retirement of Murray Gordon in January. One of his first duties as Chief was to return Engine 3 to regular service. In April Hicks resigned as Fire Chief and accepted a position in King County. In May Tim Key was named interim Fire Chief. He has continued the practice of using Engine 3. Key told the Everett City Council budget committee of he plans to use aid cars or specially equipped SUVs with two firefighters to answer aid calls when Engine 3 can’t be staffed. You can see the report to the City Council Budget committee here.
