safe city

City Council member, now Mayor-Elect, Cassie Franklin

The group of community representatives will provide input on community needs and opportunities as her administration establishes goals for the next several years.

“This is a significant transition for our entire community, not just City Hall,” said Franklin.

“We have an opportunity to take stock of where we are and what my administration needs to accomplish right away, as well as in the long-term. I am honored to have such a diverse and committed group of community leaders who are willing to provide their expertise and guidance for this important effort.”

The transition advisory team includes more than 50 business and nonprofit leaders, residents, community organizers, and students. The group is expected to meet as a full team in early December, and in small groups throughout the month, with a final meeting and recommendations coming in mid-January. A facilitator will help guide the effort and develop the final report.

“Everett has achieved some major milestones in the last few years, and we should be proud of what we’ve accomplished,” said Franklin. “At the same time, we know that there are other challenges we need to tackle to ensure that all of our residents, workers, and visitors feel safe, supported, and excited about what’s ahead for our city.”

The group will focus on public safety, economic development and civic engagement, and will identify and prioritize key goals within each category. Franklin is also working with Mayor Ray Stephanson and his staff as she prepares to take office in January. She expects to announce key leadership roles within her administration in mid-December.
