Gonna need a crystal ball to see the winner of the Everett Mayor’s race.

The Everett Mayor’s race is a statistical dead heat between Judy Tuohy 44.83 percent (3991 votes) and Cassie Franklin 44.28 percent (3942 votes).

There was a 10.89 percent write in (969 votes) which were likely for Gary Watts but the ballots have not been checked to confirm how many had his name.

For the Everett City Council races the incumbents all have comfortable leads with Paul Roberts at 66.47 percent over Leland “Lee” Dart at 32.81 percent. Jeff Moore has 54.60 percent over Alex Lark at 44.81 percent and Scott Murphy is showing 66.80 percent over Jennifer Hesse at 32.69 percent.

In the only other contested race in Everett, School Board Position 5, Pam LeSesne has 80.08 percent to 19.22 percent for challenger Janelle Nixon-Burke. The two Municipal Court Judge positions and the Port of Everett Commissioner position all only had one candidate.

The next release of results will be 5:00 PM Wednesday afternoon. Turnout in Everett so far is only about 21 percent. That is expected to rise as the week goes on. The votes in this initial run were from those received at the Auditor’s Office thus far and do not contain the results of those put in the drop boxes in Everett today or those mailed today.

MyEverettNews.com asked Snohomish County Auditor Carolyn Weikel about the voter turnout.

“I don’t know what it is we have to do to get people interested in voting,” said Weikel. “We provide the ballot, voter’s guide, envelopes, time to research and vote and even drop boxes and only 31 percent vote, I’m baffled.”

The two Everett Mayoral candidates may have a long week ahead as vote come in throughout the week with a good chunk counted tomorrow but then a trickle of ballots from the mail the next few days.

Last November’s Presidential Election had a 79 percent turnout.
