A Walk Out Of The Darkness Coming To Everett

Today MyEverettNews.com was asked to pass along word about the upcoming Out of the Darkness Community Walk to benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. The walk is set for Saturday September 23rd starting at Legion Park in north Everett. Here’s a bit more from the organizers…

Last year, a small team of Everett community members brought the OOTD Walk to Legion Park for its first year to fundraise for the Foundation and bring a feeling of support and solidarity to the city and surrounding areas. We felt it was deeply needed after a series of local and celebrity suicide deaths to bring hope and comfort to our neighbors, and the resulting Walk was an incredible experience. More than 500 community members came out, and we crushed our fundraising goal of $20,000 by bringing in more than $45,000 that went straight to funding research and prevention efforts at both the state and national level.

This year, we’ve set an aggressive goal of $53,000 raised to fight suicide. You can sign up to walk and learn more here on the donor page.
