What was supposed to be a relaxing day on Jetty Island turned into a bit of an unexpected adventure for about a thousand people Saturday afternoon.

It is one of the busier days of the year as crowds were searching for glass floats left on Jetty Island as part of the annual “Float Find” from Schack Art Center.

Around 2:00 PM there was a problem with the Argosy “Queen’s Launch” that is used to take people back and forth from 10th street boat launch and Jetty Island.

With that boat out of service and the Everett Parks main boat unable to transport, marine units from Everett Police and the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office have been pressed into service.

Parks employees gathered life jackets and loaded them onto the Marine Patrol boats who began running people back to 10th street.

The boats only carry about 10 – 12 people each so it will be some time before all of the people are off the Jetty.

There are no injuries and no reports of problems with the transport.
