Everybody had life jackets and were in the water about 5 minutes.

This young man made some new friends today.

Crews provided warm blankets and checked over everybody to make sure they were okay.

With the help of a fellow boater, Everett’s Marine Patrol, Everett Fire and Northwest Ambulance things turned out okay for 2 adults and 3 small children out boating Saturday afternoon.

Around 2:30 PM reports came in to 9-1-1 of a boat between Jetty Island and Hat Island taking on water and starting to sink.

Everett’s Marine Patrol with two police officers and a medic were on the water and responded to the area. Another boater who was closer reached the sinking boat and got everybody out of the water on onto their vessel.

Marine 2 then transferred the 2 adults and 3 kids onto their boat and brought them to the 10th street boat launch. There all were checked by medics and put in the back of a Northwest Ambulance to warm up. Everybody was okay.

The same can’t be said for the rental boat which reportedly filled with water and was sinking.

The Coast Guard says recovery of the boat will be the responsibility of the boat owner.
