Everett Districts Now plan for 5 city council districts onto the November ballot.
There are a couple of ways that could happen. The Council could accept that they have been notified the required number of signatures have been collected to cause the measure to be placed on the ballot. That is unlikely as the proper number of signatures has not yet been reached. The other way it could happen is for a majority of the council to forego the number of signatures and put the measure on the ballot anyway. On July 18th council member Brenda Stonecipher asked for that to happen with Judy Tuohy seconding the motion. Many other council members were against that idea. Here is our coverage of that meeting.
Lots of people have committed to showing up and speaking their mind before the council takes a vote Monday night. It sure will be interesting to see what happens. Never been to a city council meeting with a tailgate party.
