One half of the duplex was involved as fire crews arrived.

Quick work by Everett Firefighters saved the occupied half of a duplex in the 1900 block of Chestnut Sunday night. Calls came into 9-1-1 just before 9:00 PM of a fire in a duplex. Arriving fire crews reported flames at the front of the duplex. The fire made its way up into the attic space of an empty unit but crews were able to stop the spread of the fire to the occupied unit. The Red Cross was called out to help 3 adults and a dog with shelter for the night as power had to be cut off to the duplex. Investigators from Everett Fire and Everett Police are on scene to determine the cause of the fire. No word yet on a damage estimate. Here are some MyEverettNews.com photos of the scene.
