Everett Police detained the driver of a Toyota involved in a one-car crash in the 10600 block of 13th Avenue West in south Everett this afternoon.

9-1-1 began receiving calls of a car into a retaining wall around 12:30 PM. Medics were called to assist the passenger who was transported to Providence Regional Medical Center with serious injuries. The driver refused treatment.

While speed may have been a factor, Everett Police are also checking into whether drugs or alcohol were involved. Because of the nature of the passenger’s injuries Everett Police Traffic Investigators also came out and aided patrol with the scene.

13th Avenue West was shut down for about an hour for the investigation and Everett PD did impound the car.

This is the third serious crash on 13th Avenue West involving a vehicle at high speed in the last month.

Neighbors tell MyEverettNews.com they are now talking about asking the city to put in traffic calming devices to force cars to slow down.
