Around 3:30 PM a couple was driving around Everett looking for their SUV which had been stolen a few days prior. They spotted it occupied by 3 – 4 people in front of a McDonald’s at 79th and Evergreen Way.
As the woman called 9-1-1, her husband blocked in the SUV with their other car and used a firearm to try and detain the people inside.
The reaction of the SUV driver was to jump out and run across Evergreen Way onto the campus of Cascade High School. The others remained in the SUV.
Responding Everett Police were able to both contain the SUV at the restaurant and begin searching for the suspect.
He was spotted by an officer after he removed a shirt and hat he’d been wearing and tried to blend in with some people playing softball. They quickly pointed him out to other arriving officers.
The man was taken into custody and the couple identified him as being behind the wheel of their car. He was booked into the Snohomish County Jail on suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle as well as outstanding felony warrants.
Police Sunday were going through a large amount of items left in the SUV to determine how much stolen property may have been in the vehicle. It’s going to take Everett Police some time to sort that out as well as determine the involvement of the other people found by the owners of the SUV.
