Founded by the Zaharioudakis family in Boise, The Gyro Shack has long been known as a fast, affordable option for delicious Greek food. The company says with recipes based on those lovingly crafted by its founder, their quick and uncommonly inventive gyro options are redefining quick-service Mediterranean cuisine.
Tony and Kristen McNulty are Everett residents who own and operate several Papa Murphy’s franchises. Tony McNulty told MyEverettNews.com he was impressed with the Gyro Shack concept. “Everything is made fresh right here in the store,” said McNulty. “People can come right up and see us prepare it every day.”
The Everett location is at 6500 Evergreen Way in the former Cruisin Coffee building. There are two different drive up windows as well as a walk up window and patio seating. No speakers here. You order face to face with the employees. If traffic begins to back up, crew members with hand held ordering systems will come out to the waiting customers and take orders and payments directly.
Gyro offerings at the Everett location range from the traditional to the extraordinary, such as the BLT and the Spicy Bacon Avocado. Vegetarian lovers of Mediterranean fare will also find plenty to tempt their palates, including a veggie gyro, Greek salad, and hummus and pita. The tzatziki and spicy green sauces are a delicious way to top off any order. You can click here to see the menu.
The McNulty’s are looking for two other spots in Snohomish County to add to this first location. “I’d love to be down near Everett Community College,” said Tony McNulty. They are also looking in Marysville and Monroe.
The Everett Gyro Shack officially opens Monday (5/8) at 10:30 AM. The store will be open seven days a week. Like with their other stores the McNultys plan to give back to the community with fundraisers and charity events. A portion of the sales from an upcoming stress test will be donated to charity.
You can find out more about the Gyro Shack on their website or better yet stop in at 6500 Evergreen Way and try something yourself.
