The original location is on Avenue D in Snohomish and has been running there for the past year and a half. When Sexton found a space in Everett that was bigger than his current spot and practically ready to go, he decided to expand and open location number two.
“I really want to get four or five locations around the area,” said Sexton. “We’re really good at what we do.”
J&L BBQ does a “Texas Style” dry rub with the sauce on the side. They offer chicken, ribs, pork and brisket. Sexton says they’ll be open 11am – 8pm on weekdays and until 9pm on weeknights.
While you can get it to go, Sexton hopes people will come in, sit down and enjoy a beverage or two.
“I’m excited to bring BBQ to downtown Everett,” Sexton said. “My parents met at Everett High and the location right downtown between the Historic Everett Theatre and The Irishman is perfect for those who want BBQ for lunch or dinner.”
Another plus for Sexton is more room for catering and a new catering partner. Kris Barry has closed Barry’s Catering on Hewitt and has moved her catering operation inside J&L. The pairing of Kris and Joel is expected to benefit both and bring expanded opportunities for people in Everett planning weddings, corporate events and parties.
So if you’re looking for BBQ, stop in to J&L this week and check out what Joel has brought to Everett.
