SCSO is trying to determine where the man was picked up and then dropped into the garbage truck compactor.

Shortly after 6:30 this morning a driver of a garbage truck in the 700 block of Center Road just south of the Everett city limits reported hearing noises in the back of his truck.

He pulled the rig over and discovered a man inside the compactor.

Deputies with the Snohomish Sheriff’s Office responded along with a technical rescue truck from Fire District 1.

Leslie Hynes with Fire District 1 tells MyEverettNews.com their crews set up a rope rescue system to get the injured man out of the compactor.

He was taken to Providence Regional Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office is looking into how the man ended up in the garbage truck compactor including where he was picked up and how long he’d been there before being discovered by the driver.
