Firefighters check the gift shop for to make sure the fire did not extend from the pottery side.

Sugar Shak Pottery on Mukilteo Boulevard just inside the Everett city limits was damaged in a small fire early this morning.

Firefighters were called to reports of smoke in the building around 4:30 AM.

The building is right across from the Soundview Deli and Market in the 3700 block of Mukilteo Boulevard.

An engine company from Mukilteo Fire was the first to arrive and found a small fire inside.

They were able to quickly get it out.

No word on the cause yet or a damage estimate.

An Everett Police officer speaks with the driver who tried to drive through the fire scene.

On a separate note…

DO NOT drive around fire trucks and flares at an active fire scene.

If you come upon a fire truck in the roadway with its lights on, stop 500 back and look for an alternate way around the area.

This morning one driver went around three fire vehicles and lit flares before being stopped by police.
