The large center piece is heavily damaged. The smaller surrounding pieces are still available for use.
The fire is under investigation but there was major damage to the main structure so a fence has been put up to keep people out.
Several other pieces of play equipment that surround the main structure are still available.
Meghan Pembroke with the City of Everett sent MyEverettNews.com the following message about the outlook for the future of the park equipment…
The fire destroyed more than half of the main play structure. We expect that the largest section of the play structure, in the center of the playground, will need to be removed and replaced, and the fence will remain in place until that work is completed. We don’t have a timeline for that work right now; parks is currently reviewing possible options.
Everett Police are asking anyone who may have information on the fire to call their tip line at 425-257-8450.
