“Serving on the Council is a privilege, and I take my Council work very seriously. People have different ideas, and I listen carefully when assessing issues before the Council. I remain committed to making decisions that are in the best interest of Everett’s citizens and taxpayers,” said Scott Murphy.
Scott was first appointed to the Everett City Council in January 2013 and was elected to the Everett City Council in November 2013. He became President of the Council in January of 2016. Scott currently serves as council liaison to the Parks Board and to Snohomish Health District.
Scott Murphy has enjoyed a successful business career, with accreditation as a Certified Public Accountant.
• Scott is the President and Chief Operating Officer for Goldfinch Brothers, Inc. a 125 year old diversified Everett based Company that conducts business throughout the region.
• Scott’s previous executive management experience includes tenure as a Senior Financial Officer at Safeco Insurance, a Liberty Mutual Company.
• Scott is one of the original founders and a current Board Member and Audit Committee Chairman of Mountain Pacific Bank, headquartered in Everett, Washington.
Scott has also been very involved in serving in leadership positions in several non-profit organizations. He is the Past President of both North Everett Little League and the Everett Public Schools Foundation. He currently serves as Board Chair for the Community Foundation of Snohomish County (formerly the Greater Everett Community Foundation).
“The Everett Council must keep its eye on the ball, and make certain we continue to maintain the City’s essential services, and to protect our neighborhoods, residents, youth and those who are most vulnerable. I want Everett to avoid experiencing serious budget and safety issues, like so many other cities currently face. It is also important to me to proactively and thoughtfully address the social issues we are facing such as homelessness,” added Murphy.
Scott and his wife, Kippy Dutton Murphy, raised their three children in Everett.
