Update #3 Sunday 11:30AM: Per spokesperson Shari Ireton -The LPD Officer who shot the suspect was the officer who physically struggled with the suspect just prior to the shooting. The officer is male and has been placed on paid administrative leave, per standard policy and pending the outcome of the SMART investigation.

A domestic violence call that originated in Lynwood ended in a shooting that left one man dead in the 3900 block of Grand Ave in Everett. The incident started at the 17500 block of 54th Pl W with a domestic violence call to 911 around 6 p.m. between the suspect and his girlfriend. The victim reported that the suspect had threatened to kill her and then fled. The suspect, an Everett resident, had a felony Department of Corrections escape warrant. In their investigation to locate the suspect, Lynnwood Police Department officers went to a residence in the 3900 block of Friday Ave in Everett. The 44 year-old suspect fled that residence and was contacted by Lynwood police officers in the 3900 block of Grand Ave. Around 11:30 p.m., a struggle ensued during an attempt to place the suspect in custody. Initial witness reports indicate the suspect attempted to grab the officers gun. A Lynnwood officer shot the suspect and he died at the scene.

The incident is being investigated by Snohomish County Multi-Agency Response Team, a team of detectives from various Snohomish County law enforcement agencies who respond to and investigate police use-of-force incidents in the county. The involved officer was a four year veteran of the Lynwood Police Department.

Initial Details Sunday 6:30 AM: One person is dead and the Snohomish County Multi-Agency Response Team or S.M.A.R.T is investigating after Lynnwood Police were involved in a shooting in Everett.

The incident occurred about 11:30 PM Saturday night in the 3900 block of Grand Avenue.

MyEverettNews.com has learned Lynnwood Police were in Everett following up on a case. During their contact with a suspect there was an altercation that led to the shooting.

There were no injuries to others.

The investigation has been ongoing through the night with Grand Avenue closed between 38th and 40th.

The S.M.A.R.T. team is expected issue an initial press release later this morning that should provide more details.
