Everett Police Major Crime Detectives were called out to a woman shot at an apartment in the 2500 block of Cleveland Avenue in north Everett last night.

Just before 10:30 PM a woman called 9-1-1 and said someone shot her roommate. Arriving officers found a woman inside an apartment suffering from a gunshot wound.

Medics were called and the woman was taken to Providence Regional Medical Center.

She did not survive.

Everett Police detectives interviewed the people who were at the apartment. According to probable cause papers the victim’s boyfriend said he was handling a gun when it fired accidentally.

Early this morning the 22-year-old man was booked into the Snohomish County Jail on suspicion of 2nd degree manslaughter.

The Snohomish County Medical Examiner will determine the woman’s identity and cause and manner of death.
