The first time the Everett Silvertips tried a Teddy Bear Toss it didn’t go so well…

The idea behind the Teddy Bear Toss is simple. Fans bring teddy bears to the game and when the Silvertips score their first goal, the fans throw their bears onto the ice. The bears are then collected and given to charity.

In their first season the Silvertips tried a Teddy Bear Toss but didn’t score in the first period or in the second. Fans were invited to toss the bears on the ice in the second intermission but many either kept the bears or damaged the bears and the Silvertips decided to discontinue the promotion.

Twelve years went by and last year the Silvertips brought it back. It was fantastic. They made a quick score in the first period and the bears rained down on the ice with more than 8000 donated to charity at the end of the event.

Saturday night the Silvertips will try again as they face the Portland Winterhawks. Teddy Bears will be donated to Christmas House and the WARM 106.9 Teddy Bear Patrol. There are special sections available for the promotion but Tickets for this promotion are NOT available for PURCHASE at the XFINITY Arena Box Office. Orders will be available for pickup in the Silvertips Office starting one business day after order is placed and at the Box Office two hours before the game. Must have valid ID at time of pickup.
